Warne Chemical & Equipment Company, Inc. offers a weed and feed service for those homeowners/property managers who do not want to be obligated to a multi-application program.

Inspection Service
A no-obligation, no-cost lawn analysis.

Weed and Feed
We will come out and apply an application of fertilizer and broadleaf weed control to your lawn. This service is done only when you request it to be done. The most common applications include spring, summer, and fall applications or any combination of those applications. Call 342-7644 and schedule an application today.

Weed Spray
Do you want to control the weeds that are growing in your lawn but don’t want to fertilize? Warne Chemical & Equipment Company, Inc. offers a weed spray only. This application will control broadleaf weeds that are growing at the time of the application. Weed sprays can be done as many times as you want them done –spring, summer, fall – or any combination of that. It is only done when you schedule an application and is not an ongoing service. Call and schedule an application today.

Granular Fertilizer
Want an application of fertilizer on your lawn without weed control? Warne Chemical & Equipment Company, Inc. will come out and apply granular fertilizer to stimulate the growth and density of your lawn. We will use a balanced slow-release fertilizer custom blended for the Black Hills area. This can be done as many times as you want it done – three to five applications per season are recommended. It is done only when you schedule an application and is not an ongoing year-to-year service.

Disease Control
Sometimes disease infects even the healthiest of lawns. Lawn diseases are one of those things. Many lawn diseases are not easy to identify and distinguish from other problems such as pests, inadequate irrigation, or poor cultural practices. For a turfgrass disease to exist, three primary components must exist at the same time. If any of these three things do not exist, the disease cannot thrive.

The Three Components of Disease Are
1) The Pathogen – The organism that infects the host and causes damage
2) The Environment – Environmental conditions, like high temperatures and low moisture that favor pathogen development or reduce the health and vigor of the lawn
3) The Host – A grass variety or species that are susceptible to that pathogen

What To Look For
Spots on leaves, brown patches, or areas of dead grass may look like damage caused by disease, but they do not immediately indicate that there is a disease present in the lawn. Lawnmowers with a dull blade, mowing too short (scalping), lawn damaging insects, a poorly calibrated irrigation system, or a lack of irrigation can also cause symptoms in your lawn that may be confused with a lawn disease. A lack of proper irrigation is the most common cause of stress to the lawn in the hot summer that leads to diseases in lawns.

Treatment
If your lawn is positively identified as having disease present, the following steps should be taken.
1) Fungicide application (possible two) 14 to 21 days apart
2) Maintaining lawn mowing height at 3” to 3.5” in the heat of the summer
3) Identifying stress factors (irrigation, proper fertilization, or compaction)

Lawn Insect Control

Grubs, billbugs & sod webworms are three insects that damage lawns. The damage that is caused by all of them first appears as small, brown patches of dead grass. The patches may come together to form large irregular dead areas. Unlike sod webworms, grubs kill the grassroots. All three can be quite destructive and hard to control, but now with Warne Chemical & Equipment Company, Inc. our highly effective Grub, Billbug and Sod Webworm control will eliminate and prevent these insects from invading and taking over your lawn.
